FAQs
Do I have to pay to access the archives?
Our public searchroom and catalogued materials are available to access free of charge.
Is there a café on site?
There is no café at Nucleus but we do have two kitchenettes on site for events, stocked with tea, coffee, sugar and milk. To protect the documents, no food or drink is permitted in the searchroom.
Are you open on bank holidays?
Nucleus closes at weekends and on some bank holidays shared across the UK. If we close outside of those times, for example due to hazardous weather conditions, this website will be updated as soon as possible in order to give all users and potential visitors advance notice.
How do I request documents?
For public enquiries and onsite visits: A document request slip must be completed for every archive to be consulted. The document reference will be found in the catalogue. Please give the completed request slip to a member of staff and they will deliver the documents to you.
You can pre-order up to ten items ahead of your visit, saving you time on the day. This can include original archive documents, microfilm and any reference books held in our library
